RVIEW 05 : AMINA'S VOICE by HENA KHAN .
Hello ! lovely bookaholics today i'm gonna talk about a book that got me blown and speechless for minutes because i didn't know whether i liked it or not , whether i am happy or angry with the author...But all i knew i had a giant argue to make a review about it ...But, first had to filter the multiple feelings i had by a second read ... the story follows the struggle of a Pakistani , American Muslim girl at middle school who is trying to cope the different cultures of her country and her parents country as well . and stay true to her family's ...so Amina's a simple girl who'd be so happy only by hanging out with her christian friend , she starts growing up when facing changes and having a grievous time adjusting to middle school's shifting friendships and trying to understand more about her traditional Muslim uncle who is visiting'em from Pakistan take place .
Thus, the story moves quickly and easy to get into ; it discusses different topics from Islamophobia to identities and friendships and that's whatta shed my attention the most . However , I did love the sense of the importance of community and how everyone supported each other, and coming together when it mattered and got each other's back , yet the plot felt a bit lacking in some parts and a bit hasty in others , would've adored to see some things fleshed out .
Overall , this book should be handed to every middle schooler. and before i forget , REAAAAAAD IT and spread love. We're so very needy for Muslim rep in children's literature and the existence of such an overwhelming books is a step in the right direction. Let us gather courage and support these books , so we can get MORE. x)
